I thought only the wall part was filled and the interior was actually empty. That way it looked full so when you tipped it it would fill up the lid

#the_grinch is right. Most of the middle is always empty, the small amount of fuild that fills the walls can hide in the lid part. You could tell by looking through the bottom of the bottle.
