General Iroh is the reason that I consider Korra to be non-cannon. Iroh is perhaps one of the greatest characters of all time. But in Korra, he just hangs out in the spirit world instead of seeing his son again, and only a monster would make that choice.

But maybe he sees his duty to the Avatar as greater than personal peace. He may have only been taking a break from spending time with his family to guide Korra
