Would've loved to see the pitch meeting for this bs... now that would make a great TV Show... like a reverse "America's Got Talent" but for pitch meetings.
I dont think anybody thought anything like that. They were specifically told it would be a one day gig. For someone so woke it would be great if you would wake up.
Context and details are very important in cases like this. As others have said- the “jobs” these people were being offered were actually “gigs-“ short term work like a temp. The people were paid for agreeing to be on the show so still made the money, and the pranks aren’t as simple dangling a job and then telling “not!” The job is the set up- bait to get people in a position to prank them by faking super natural occurrences or other things and their reactions to THOSE are the pranks. The take away isn’t “people are too sensitive nowadays...” like with many things the take away is that people shouldn’t jump to conclusion so quickly without facts.
