She does have a point though. Bisexuals exist.

And really all sexuality exists on a spectrum anyway. But here’s a real world example to her point: picture your female relative or friend is dating a guy who for whatever reasons you believe is gay. They seldom or never have sex- he doesn’t initiate, and she feels like he’s just “going through the motions.” He watches gay porn and has gay cyber sex chats on his phone and computer. BUT- he’s married to a woman. Would you then say that he is straight or would you say he is gay? Simply dating a person- or even having sex with them doesn’t magically make one that orientation wether it’s a closeted gay person or the less common but theoretical possible opposite with a straight person. But we know from real life example a person doesn’t have to date to their orientation- and what’s more, self identity isn’t a matter of outward observation. How many people identify as smart, cool, funny, sexy, etc. who you would say are not? Self identity is just that- the way we think of ourselves.

If you do not identify as a stalker that’s your business. Plenty of murdered don’t identify as murderers, plenty of alcoholics don’t identify as alcoholics. Many abusers or rapists also do not identify as those things. Stalking, rape, etc are however crimes that are codified for legal reasons, and if your behavior fits a crime you are allowed to self identify as innocent- but you will still be put in prison. Now- a person might self identify as a speaker of a higher power, like a priest or prophet or guru. I’m not a catholic but if I met the pope I’d still show him the respect of his office. I’m not British but I’d still respect the self identity of Queen Elizabeth if we met. My perceptions and theirs may not align, but where there’s no reason to show disrespect I’m going to do my best to respect your self identity because what we think of others and what they think of themselves is seldom the same thing- but mutual respect is a common ground of communication and getting along.

Bisexuality exists tho, her sign probably means that even if she’s dating a woman, her sexuality is not strictly for women (aka being a lesbian), and dating a man wouldn’t mean she’s straight
