She's probably on a fix income so this may be her only pleasure. Plus, this looks like a drug store to me so maybe her meds are taking the majority of her income. I think we need to give in a little depending on the circumstances. I'd probably just buy her the book.

I hate to be the one who poops at the party, but if she's not buying the books she's reading, then encouraging the behavior is not good for business.

Normally I'd agree with you, I've worked in retail my whole life and I can be really grumpy about this stuff, but I hope they can see when someone is taking advantage of it that shouldn't be and ask them not to. But yes, in practice, you are correct
