It's is a historic event that effected most people sense of well being and trust in neuclear power. We shouldn't change history for some misguided social justice bullshit. White people as slaves picking cotton ? Muslims concentration camps in Poland ? For fuck sakes, this mentality is,way out of hand.
As I said in my lower comment: if this person gave a rats ass about accuracy, they would be trying to ensure more Ukrainian actors had been given a role, NOT using a series about THEIR history to springboard her own social agenda.
'
I guarantee there are plenty of shows where having more black people would make more sense. I imagine those shows aren't popular enough for her, however. So instead she tries to make a horrific disaster that had literally nothing to do with racism about... HER FEELINGS.
'
The actors that were cast did a phenomenal job. It's a shame so many people want to detract from that on the basis that they have the wrong color of skin
I LOVE how the person in the post, instead of advocating for more accuracy, or that more Ukrainian actors be given roles (since they're the actual party being snubbed here and it's THEIR history), she instead turns this into a "but what about MY social justice" scenario.
Agreed. What the hell will the future be like if these idiots rewrite history with everything peaches and cream. Hiltler was a redheaded woman, Gahndi was a Islamic merchant, the Japanese tried to liberate Pearl Harbor. It is really getting spooky.
"I get that all characters would have been white IRL... why not add some PoC?" The Chernobyl series would have looked much less realistic if some PoC actors were hired
I have a suggestion: Make a movie about the Holocaust, or some other genocidal event, and put in as many black people as possible. And then watch these morons shriek.

They said they wanted representation, here you go.

Like I said to whoever earlier: it's honestly really just sad to me that people are out there, literally trying to guilt this series into the ground, because the phenomenal actors in it have the wrong color of skin. I have a feeling it's a small minority, but even so.
I am not saying people of color shouldn't have leading rolls. Idris Ebela is one of the finest actors in Hollywood today, he's gotten some shit movies but I would like to see him in a good movie. I just don't think that something based on a historical event should be altered or sugar coated.
