After Minnie Cox, the first black female postmaster was forced out of her post in Mississippi because she was black, President Theodore Roosevelt continued to pay her salary and punished the town by rerouting their mail 30 miles away until they gave her back the position
She didn't keep her position per say, but President Teddy Roosevelt didn't except her resignation so she kept her salary for the remaining year her commission had left. She and her husband had to leave town the threats were so bad but were able to return after the new commissioner was installed and the post office reopened a year later.
For all Theodore Roosevelt's faults he was honestly one of the better presidents the U.S. ever had. His trust busting practices and environmentalist policies are pillars of a true american president. Protecting the environment of the nation and the economic health of the U.S.
