I know this is all fiction, but in the Flying Dutchman lore, its original captain was named Hendrick Van der Decken. The name Davy Jones only appears in the movies.

Davy Jones is a mythical figure. Disney probably combined it with the Flying Dutchman for simplicity and because they were well known figures
