How many ultra conservative types go out and by a new gun every time one of these things happen?
People get shot, other people bring up the concept of "gun control", and as a "precautionary measure", they go out and buy a new gun for when the Democrats come to take away all of their existing guns...
Well it's a counter to the point that anti-gun groups make money off of shootings.
While that may be true, I know plenty of people who go out and buy a new gun every time something happens. To the gun industry makes loads of money as well.
It's a consequence of shootings because you can see spikes in sales that are directly correlated.
I'd argue that the difference is in marketing. Groups like everytown make their money running ads that capitalize on the tragedy and scare people into donating. And while I won't argue that shootings drive gun and ammunition sales through the roof, you can't tell me that running an ad campaign on the backs of murdered families isn't the most unashamedly slimy thing you can think of.
