from a pure statistics point of view you are most likely to be killed by people that share demographics with you. Women are more likely to be killed or abused by women. Men are more likely to be killed or abused by men. Race by the same race, economic class by the same economic class, etc.

That is untrue there is a huge gap in women killed by their intimate partners rather than women killing their male intimate partners men. You can even read about it from U.N. global reports. (including only straight "couples", as other is in a separate study). If you take both criminology, psychology in general, and criminal justice classes, you learn that men are more likely to commit violent crimes. A fun fact though as society becomes more equal the crime rate difference by gender reduces closer to the 50/50 mark as a trend, but we still are no where near equal rates. While you are more likely to be killed by the same race and class, gender remains the outlier. (note they also account for estimates of unreported violence)
