My buddy in the Florida National Guard is annoyed by the mobilization. I didn't say anything, but I was laughing on the inside. He (a weekend warrior) was complaining to me (a whole-ass soldier) about being inconvenienced on his off time.
Come on now you'd be complaining just as much if you lost your evenings and weekends. No one likes having what free time they have taken up by Army stuff, especially if all you're doing is sitting around and waiting. Of course having been there and done that I also know that complaining about others complaining about losing their free time when you have even less is going to happen. It's only when they stop complaining that there's trouble. Remember, a happy soldier is a complaining soldier.
Don't insult him like that. Even if it's just for the weekends, he's putting in more service than the vast majority of the rest of us.
That's sort of how the disconnection starts.
I live in Florida, on the Atlantic coast, and this thing is annoying us all to death. We know it's coming, we know it will be big when it hits, but we don't know WHERE it will hit. Someone compared it to being stalked by a turtle.
