Kelenken guillermoi, meaning "Guillermo's Winged Deity" after a demon named Kélenken in the mythology of the Tehuelche people of Argentina and after Guillermo Aguirre Zabala who discovered the holotype fossil in 1999, was a genus of giant predatory terrestrial birds popularly known as Terror Birds. Living 15 million years ago in what is now Argentina and Chile, it stood over 10 feet tall and weighed around 5 to 600 pounds. Its skull alone measured over two feet long which it used along with its massive jaw and neck muscles to drive the hooked tip of its beak into the bodies of its prey. In its environment, it would've enjoyed a similar position to modern tigers and polar bears as the apex predator.
