There are in fact adult people who cannot drink from a glass without a straw, and who find that other alternatives are not yet able to fully replace a plastic straw. Not to say that we shouldn't consider alternatives to every plastic product we use and diminish our use of plastic. Just saying that maybe don't demean people for wanting to use a plastic straw.

Bad for your teeth, and inconvenient while driving or on the move, as some of us peasants actually work for a living and have places to be.
