I'm torn on this...
Yes, this is a vastly underrated classic. It is undoubtedly an incredible movie and one of my favorites...
... however, it did kind of leave me wanting more. I feel like there should have been more to the story, like pehaps more stops along the way. Now, it has been forever and a day since I saw any of the Treasure Island films or read the book, so I can't recall the plot line path.
If it's genuine live action and not CGI passed off as it, a script that covers the bases and expands on it, get us a good director like maybe Ridley Scott, Double Negative and New Deal Studios (Interstellar) and Weta Works, along with a cast that causes people to exclaim, holy shit, they got them to sign on?
It won't happen. Disney is only remaking classics due to copyright law being the way it is. They don't actually value Treasure planet enough to make a remake.
