Whatever floats your boat. Tattoos don’t have to be meaningful- but even those that aren’t deep tales of emotion tend to have some meaning. That said- the reason one gets a tattoo can say as much or more about them than the actual tattoo. Few people would wear the same outfit the rest of their lives- but many will commit to a tattoo that will likely be with them the rest of their lives. “I don’t care” is a valid answer- but also a telling answer about the person we are dealing with.

That said- “I thought it looked cool” “it was funny” or whatever else are all valid reasons to get tattoos. It’s your body after all. Other people need not understand or agree with your motivations to do what you like with it. Any action is an action- and actions and motivations give the world a picture of who we are. So wether a work of art, a touching memorial, or “for the lulz” a tattoo does have meaning. Few things don’t. It means this person chose this tattoo.
