I don’t know, I completely understand that people of colour were not represented for ages but I feel like the effort we put into being so considerate starts becoming kinda annoying. If we had a movie of a dark skinned tribe I wouldn’t be wondering why there are no white people in it. I’m all for inclusion and putting an end to racism but it just seems so forced now to the point where every movie and series needs to start looking like a diverse college prospectus

It seems forced because an effort has to be made for inclusion or else it won't be done. People roll their eyes at intentionality because it seems artificial, but in reality you have to make a concerted attempt at these things or else the typical thinking will once again take over. Social change doesn't happen without people saying "we are going to do this, and are going to do this intentionally and with forethought."

But where do we draw the line then? Are we not allowed to be historically accurate anymore? Doesn’t that seem to be more of an injustice? If we are really aiming for equality at what point do we start putting white men in African tribes? Or Asians? I do get your point don’t get me wrong. I just feel like it’s a system that may collapse in on itself. In no way should people be treated unfairly or unequally but if so where do we draw the line?

You're purposefully picking examples that won't happen to highlight what you believe would be the most extreme cases, but this isn't some slippery slope thing. People joke about how MLK will be portrayed by a white woman now and hide behind "being true to the source material" when in reality they're just afraid that their traditionally white fictional stories will be sullied by people of color.

No I’m just slightly sick of the mermaids shouldn’t be black elves shouldn’t be white debate. I have no problem with black or white elves or mermaids or whatever. I was just wondering if and when people would become represented enough that nothing needed to be done for that “need” to do it. Instead have it depend on the author or writer that just created the story? But if I think about it the world is lot more mixed and a lot less single raced now to begin with. Maybe in a few decades race would be so mixed up that we don’t have to worry about if we’re putting in enough of this or that and we focus on just treating each other as kindly as possible and everyone gets represented just because instead of their outward appearance.
