Don’t know why you got downvotes. I’m not here to bag on anyone’s country- but obviously at least someone wants to bag on mine. The murder rate in the US is 4.9 per 100,000 a year- the global average? 6.2 per 100,000. Even with laws many see as lax and with ALL the mass shootings combined- the United States overall homicide rate still isn’t that bad.
Caracas has one of the highest homicide rates of any major city- 122 per 100,000 people. Read that again. So Caracas might have less school shootings- the highest murder rate city in America is half or less that number. When we include other types of violent crimes like kidnappings- those numbers start looking really bad.
So like I said- I’m not bashing anyone. South America is full of beautiful and wonderful nations- and comparing the crime rates of nations without factoring in politics, internal and external conflicts, gdp, per capital income, wealth disparity etc. is ignorant. But so is bashing the US for gun crime when the US is overall about average or below average for total crime and does pretty well on violent crime in general.
True that. America isn’t in the top 10 safest countries in the world. The list is Lots of Nordic countries, Canada, Japan, some Europeans- not France, Germany, or the UK. And if your country is in the top 10? Good for you. I’m happy for you. But- Most people would agree that while you are statistically safer in the USA than Mexico- it isn’t alright for America to look down on or trash Mexico- so what makes it ok for Canada or Sweden who are safer to trash on America?
Just look to Peaceful Venezuela, and Bastion of Human Rights Brazil
Granted, that's also true of a few South American countries.
