It’s a neat theory and one can hold it if they like. In the novels, it is contradicted. In “Little White Bird” Peter helps several kids back to their parents. In other occasions he returns Wendy and the kids, and Barrie says that lost boys often die- and if not seem to grow up, and occasionally Peter “thins them out.” Those things may not disprove the theory- but it certainly makes it more questionable- especially when taken with the other evidence. In other media we also see children return from neverland, and in the Disney film return to neverland- the lost boys have the choice to go home but decide to stay.

It’s fiction though- and when speaking about the afterlife or some other dimension etc- we could evoke all manner of symbolism or extrapolation to explain things however we want to. If you choose to view the narrators etc as unreliable that opens even more doors. And that isn’t bad. Being inspired to use our imaginations and create our own stories in stories is wonderful.
