Ok zippy.... this doesn’t even make any sense. If you think people who are “on benefits” are stealing- that they are criminals who can’t think ahead enough to realize they need you to “work to pay their benefits,” then why would they also be forward thinking enough to pass off money today for money in a month?
And..... if “your benefits” meant so much to them... why would they be stealing? If the benefits were of note, why wouldn’t they buy their own tools, or why would they need the money from stealing your tools and selling them?
Which of course brings us to perhaps the most important point.....
Why would we assume the people stealing are on some sort of government assistance? Asides the fact that alone is already ignorant, and the majority of people on assistance are just regular folks like you, but with different challenges in life- if they are on assistance and they are stealing it would be for what reason? Generally the desire for more right? That would be... one of the primary motivators for theft in history outside of survival. But almost everyone wants more. The middle and upper classes are by and large- the ones most guilty of wanting more. That’s the nature of consumerism isn’t it? More, better, newer? Consumerism isn’t driven by the poorest people because they can’t afford to buy lots of shit they don’t need. The middle class is the driving force- the ones with the means to turn the wheel and the ones usually looking for a hustle to squeeze a little more out of life.
World wide- the middle class and wealthy are actually the bulk of shoplifters for example. Females are strongly represented in the shop lifting demographic- especially middle class female teenagers. The professions in North America most likely to shop lift? Doctor, Police Officer, and nurse. All respectably paying jobs and people who should have no need to do so. The middle class and above often have the connections, opportunity, and resources to carry off theft on larger scales, and without consequences of reduced consequences.
