Honestly the Monty Python were far above their time. But because of how outlandishly funny they were they paved the way for many comedic geniuses.
Some of the things they said was so smart and you don't even notice it until you take the time to analyze all the stuff they're saying. The whole movie of The Meaning of Life is just them showing off how smart they truly are. But the funny thing is they are so smart that they come up with things like in the movie The Holy Grail they chop off all of a knight's arms and legs and the guy acts like he just got scratched not just lost a whole entire limb. And they use a bunny to be a monster. They admitted most of their comedy is just written to try to get each other to laugh.
There will come a day when on the news it says the last Monty Python is gone and that will be a sad day indeed.
