El Paso is also a border town flooded with illegals, foreign nationals, depressed and disillusioned soldiers, drug dealers, gangs, and sicarios, gun runners, etc. so...

So just because you deem these people as less than you doesn’t mean we should allow any yayhoo with a gun to kill them. They’re humans and deserve to live without threats such as this. Meaning we shouldn’t say “well they’re all trash to me so it’s not my problem to fight for gun control” and instead should stand up for the basic human right of /life/ for our fellow americans
I've never said anything resembling that. I spoke up only to inform people that El Paso in particular, and border towns in general, are not safe, secure, or easily controlled places.
Jesus fucking Christ, how could you even construe that from my comment?
You called your neighbors things that, in this day and in this atmosphere, are commonly used to ridicule and dehumanize people. Based on that it’s not exactly a leap or even a step to assume that’s what you meant. By saying “so...” you’re leading people to believe that being illegal or an exsoldier is an excuse for getting shot or going on killing sprees. When a more humane approach might’ve been saying out right that soldiers need better mental health care and immigrants need protecting. Down vote me all you want, it doesn’t effect me, the only thing that bothers me is the lack of empathy for others that you display in your debates with me and others on this site sometimes.
How's this for size: Secure the borders.
Encourage citizens and foreign nationals to take self-defense measures.
Enforce laws.
Most importantly, Secure. The. Border.
Ridicule and dehumanize? Drug and gun runners are criminals. Gangsters, too. Sicarios are among the worst and most murderous of them, I'd venture to call them terrorists for how they deliberately target civilians and civilian LEO's. You don't solve problems by refusing to call bad guys bad.
We aren't even allowed by command in certain stores or neighborhoods just because command knows those fuckers want nothing more than to add some poor, drunk soldier to his body count.
And I'm not talking about ex-soldiers, I'm talking about the poor bastards, myself included, stuck in the retirement home known as Fort Bliss.
For fuck's sake, I was on Dyer street for ten minutes when I noticed some motherfuckers trying to trail me and my battle buddies. Border towns are inherently dangerous, particularly when criminal enforcement is almost nonexistent amongst an illegitimate population.
Sort of off-topic, but: I think the public should be aware of what is going on and news should (objectively) let people know about events such as this. However, I am torn, because I feel like these events have gotten so much publicity that it is causing more of a problem (because the offenders want attention/fame/glory/etc.)
