what shits me is that if you're late or cancel, they charge you for it

This literally just happened to me a half hour ago. I waited for an hour and a half

This and the cable company's "we'll be there from 9:00 to 3:00" actually have a reason for them. Because each individual will take an unknown amount of time, they overbook to purposely fill their days and help as many customers as possible per day, with no waiting around til the next top of the hour for the next. That way rather than "were sorry your sick/TV is out, but were booked for the next month, how does 6 weeks from now at precisely 3:34 PM sound?" they just give you a general time and get you to you when they can.
