He mentioned at one point how important it is to talk to people, and just getting that feeling of acceptance.

He also brought up the music they wrote and how he realized it didn't have to follow a pattern or a theme, it didn't have to mean ANYTHING. Because they were writing about their lives, and the dark places they'd been in, and that was enough.

He dealt with depression all his life from the sounds of it and managed to articulate it really well, both in their music and his words
He was lovely. You almost forget when you sink back inside your own head that you need to do those things, like talk to others, to feel better. It takes effort but it's worth it.
This post just confirmed for me that I really am struggling with depression right now. I mean I knew. But there's always this voice that's like "what if you're just lazy? What if you just wanna be like that? What if..."
Tbh that right there is why I wanted to post it. A lot of people struggling with depression don't realize it. They just think "I'm just unmotivated and tired." And sometimes that's what it is. But sometimes it's not. And when it's not, They don't think about the reason why, or if they do, they don't think it's depression. Because if you're depressed you're sad and want to kill yourself, right? Or, as Chester said, someone else has gone through something much worse so clearly you can't feel that way because what you're going through isn't *that* bad. But that's not always the case.

Recognizing the symptoms, and even hearing them articulated, is so important to finding a way to get the help you need. Even something as simple as recognizing when you're in your own head and learning to force yourself outside of it can make a huge difference at times
