Ummm when was the last time you saw the"whole" movie?
Cause it is messed up.
The main character is an ex slave who was given freedom but decided to stay as a "worker" on the very plantation he was a slave on.
The only reason it seems so nice is due to it making it seem like he enjoyed being a slave and working on the beautiful plantation.
He tells stories that were written to help slave children deal with being slaves. The story of Brier rabbit is about a slave who ran away and nearly is lynched but tricks the lynch mob into setting him free.

I mean if you don't think of it in the way it truly is but just think of it as Walt originally wanted it to be, a simple movie to make people sing and cheer for Brier Rabbit, and get life lessons than yeah it's a good movie.

But truth is it is extremely messed up and a missrepresentation of slaves who were released after the civil war.
