Security is going to keep growing, so Lady Liberty needs to confine him to where he's needed, lock it down tight, and pack some serious firepower for when he comes after her.
While I agree, the dinosaur metaphor reminds me of the resounding message a certain Jurassic film series taught me about trying to contain an apex predator.
Not sure if I want to think about how accurate this metaphor is.
While I’m not saying one shouldn’t be armed- I do think that it’s illustrative of the problem when a “democratic representative government” that is designed by the people for the people- is so messed up that the solution to government overreach isn’t to use our powers as citizens to change things like overarching security practices- but to arm ourselves so we can fight the inevitable despotism when the dinosaur finally comes for us. You can’t have liberty, in anything but a savage utopian anarchy, if you don’t have security. Our goal is to stop that security from taking the liberty it protects.
If we find ourselves in a situation where we are saying that we will sacrifice liberty for the security to protect liberty from destruction- we should probably just let the liberty die. I’d rather someone else destroy my country than have a part in destroying it myself. If liberty is going to die- I don’t want to be the one holding the gun over the body saying “I did this for you...”
