Good point. I suppose there’s room for perspective- what is the purpose of “fake” behavior? At the least it implies that you act like you like someone or support them etc- but don’t really. But realistically- it isn’t so much the falsehood of others emotions that makes this upsetting is it? It’s more that usually people are “fake” in order to get US to like or trust them right? So I suppose in my mind- the measure goes beyond being disingenuous or courteous/civil to specifically those who act in a manner that is designed to create a one sided relationship- or where an express or implied social contract is invoked without the intention to uphold it to the prescribed level of engagement.
