I just assumed it was a star of David, which didn't make anymore sense either. I see now that's wrong

Well now I thought a star of david had 8 points for some reason. Basically the post is fine, my thought patterns are a train-wreck

It also an ancient alchemy symbol representing the combination of the four classical elements. It is still used by some Wiccans in this way, though not often to avoid such confusion. That was my first thought when I saw it.
