... but, in my opinion, developers should find a way to optimize a game for split screen. I don’t care if the rendering is worse, or if it costs a company a lot, split screen coop is not something that can be replaced. It holds a close place in my heart as I played with family and neighbors, something that really means a lot to this day as I play Halo with my nephew. We can’t splitscreen Halo 5 like we could the others, and that removes that game from our selections. An investment should be put into local coop. It’s going to be more difficult in this day’s graphics and FPS, but it’s something that should be attempted.
It's all about developers not being willing to trade fidelity. The thing is, I would play a game that looks smaller, and crappier, if it meant I could play it in the living room with my best mate
Multiplayer games are my favourite, because I find single-player things rather boring most the time. I miss split screen, because if a game have multiplayer now, it's usually "You Share the screen, one person controls the camera" Spelunky style.
Not necessarily bad, but there's a lot you miss out on that way.
