Kelenken guillermoi, named after the demon Kélenken in the mythology of the Tehuelche people (who lived near where it was discovered) and its discoverer Guillermo Aguirre Zabala, was a species of giant flightless bird belonging to the family Phorusrachidae, often known as Terror Birds, that lived in what is now Argentina and Chile during the Miocene around 15 million years ago. Formally described in 2007, Kelenken was the tallest member of its family, standing in at over 10ft tall, though its relative Brontornis were far more robust and heavier. In fact, Kelenken was very slim and gracile which, combined with its unusually long leg bones, suggested it was more of a runner than its relatives. Kelenken also had a massive skull, the largest of any avian dinosaur, measuring in ar 28 inches long which had large muscle attachments, suggesting a high bite force. As a note on the art, no Phorusrachid had claws on their wings.
