physics has always been a little less rigid than mathematics; if you don't believe me, bounce a ball up with your foot, then whack it. Tell me how much math you did.

Physics is applied mathematics. It's definitely fun to hit that ball for a minute but you still have the same four hours of math to bang out afterwards.
