Wheres the owner? I need a word

Come on out, we only want to talk.

Was the man the owner, though? Could have been an elderly relative who died and the man didn't want an old, possibly sick, dog. It sucks but so does life sometimes.

They also could have found the dog, but were unable to care for them?
Like some ppl don't have the means to take care of themselves let alone a pet?
