I mean.... the historical documentary film “Armageddon” starting Bruce Willis and an all star cast is often classified as “disaster movie” and it starts right off with the scientists being listened to. Of course, as we all know (or we wouldn’t be here to have this discussion) Things turned out well. So maybe... at the start of every disaster movie where things go very badly and could have gone better, a scientist is ignored?

But, to be fair, in Armageddon, the disaster was prevented. In all others, it actually happened.

Well... (I’m not arguing I’m only discussing- just to be clear there is no hostility or I’ll will in my reply), I think that we can say the disaster was partially averted. The “disaster” as a whole encompasses the larger meteor but also the fragments, and as we saw in the opening the fragments did hit earth and cause disaster. But regardless we can agree that they listened to the scientists, and in doing were able to severely reduce the impact of the disaster, and stop the most sever aspect of the disaster.
