I don't know if I remember correctly, but making an image of god and/or jesus was discouraged in the bible.

In the Old Testament it is, I don’t think there’s much about it in the New Testament.

I think the 10 commandments have their validity in the New Testament, as well.

Actually in many cultures Christ is depicted looking like the locals, He is black in Africa, Oriental in China and Japan, and South Asian in India. Though Western "White" deceptions have become established because of the media.
