The French had more, and superior tanks. The Germans had better communications,leadership and strategy. The French used tanks as infantry back up instead of main units , like in WW1.

Very true. And the Manginot line was a bit dated in implementation but overall sound based on established assumption of what mobilized infantry units were capable of. I was teasing of course- except maybe about the Italians. lol. The French get an undeserved bad rap in modern military history. The French Resistance- people can debate the overall effect of had on the course of the war- but it certainly helped and was a hard fighting group of largely tough SOB’s worthy of respect.

The Resistance helped save downed allied pilots and tied up a heck of a lot of German troops, disrupted supply trains and really put mental strain on the enemy leadership .

I agree. My comment on wether one believes their effectiveness or not is just because I know some people- even historians debate how much impact these actions had on the war as a whole- but whatever a person believes as to how those actions shaped the war- I would say that no one could argue the resistance didn’t do good by many people and do whatever they could to fight for freedom and survival. Personally I think they were a tremendous help- which inwhy I stated it was jus a joke on the stereotype and not a serious barb at the French, who get an unfair reputation in these matters and especially WW2.
