Grades are one POSSIBLE indicator that you have the knowledge or skills to be successful in a career- but in the ultimate sense when it comes to applied fields, being able to deliver is probably the most important thing- of course if you can’t follow procedures and have poor soft skills you better be GOOD, and ready to blaze your own path. But if putting a space ship on another planet or inventing a new type of micro controller or whatever were so easy- everyone would do it no? You can be taught or supported through most of the other stuff- but being able to deliver comes from inside and not grades or books or any of it. Drive is probably the most important thing next to having the “x factor” in you.

I was a shit student. Graduated high school with a 1.7 GPA. Made six figures by 30, retired at 41. Do not let anyone else’s yardstick measure you.

Truth. Well- no ones but your own anyway- but even then you have to give yourself some grace.
