What a weird way to set up your living room

I mean- you probably won’t find this as a common set up for a living room... but for a whole house... the real “villain” of this comic isn’t the person who made it, or the audience that it was made for. Not is it guns or videogames in my book. I’d say, that wether it’s games or movies or playing with friends or just about anything- parents (like we see in this strip and probably all know at least a couple) who would set their home up in a way to essentially minimize the contact and involvement with their children- blissfully ignorant of anything going on so long as their grades are good and they aren’t “getting in trouble” and following the “plan” to get them out of the house and into a successful career- or just out of the house.

At the end of the day- while not always the living room, plenty of parents keep a spare TV and such so that even television doesn’t have to be a “family activity” and they can have their autonomy without having to... well... raise a kid and deal with them. How many people do you meet online who have stronger connections to strangers met through a computer and possibly never in person- than their own immediately families?

I’m not sayin having online close relationships is bad- I’m saying that a parents job should be more than paying bills and making sure you follow a generic plan to meet generic metrics, and the rest of the time or if things are running “smoothly” or seem to be- they can just tune out on parenting.

But maybe I’m crazy and none of the social issues or emotional issues that are so prevalent in society today are rooted in poor socialization and lack of learning to deal with and care for other people from an early age at home. It would seem a bit odd that America didn’t have nearly the instances of gun crime- especially mass shootings- as it does now in the past, at times when semi automatic weapons were even MORE available than now, when more homes had guns and it wasn’t even that uncommon to allow kids to use guns.... the problem wasn’t near as extreme. So... I dunnoh.

I'm starting to think that it's all the fear mongering in the news and the fact that the class decide is only growing.
