Not too many sane people would cut of their penis outside of some sort of.. gangrene or something. Plenty of sane people would however, have a skilled medical team remove or reshape their penis for various reasons including penis enlargement or cosmetic corrections, or gender reassignment. Sanity of course is relative. Does a mentally well balanced person get breast implants? Stab needles into themselves to imprint a design? Get a penis or vaginal or other piercings? Do sane people take steroids- or spend thousands of hours in a Gym and watching what they eat not for health or performance, but to “look better?”

Do sane people support a system where their labor earnings benefit a small class of wealthy and powerful people more than them? Do sane people hate, fear, or otherwise hold prejudice against others for arbitrary reasons? So much about society or people- we can argue are signs of mental malfunctions. Does it matter? There’s no base line is there? Sports fans are often pretty fucking insane- true fanatics to an unhealthy degree, but... the two tests of mental health are really... are you happy, and can you function in some role in producing labor or ideas for society? A person can remove their penis, or want to, and be either and both those things- maybe even more so than when they had their penis.

Is it “insane” to dedicate your life to doing good deeds for others but live in poverty? Perhaps. Is it insane to dedicate your life to acquiring wealth for yourself and putting your needs and wants ahead of everyone else’s? Perhaps. It’s relative, either of those extremes would likely see the other as sick wouldn’t they? A baseline sanity check for humans is action in ones self interest. If one removes their penis in their own self interest- why would that be any less insane than going to art school or paying $300 to attend a broadway show? It’s really circumstantial isn’t it? What is “insane” varies by circumstance. It wouldn’t be “insane” to suddenly scream at the top of your lungs as a roller coaster went down a large descent, but it may be insane to starting screaming suddenly at the top of your lungs in a crowded store for no good reason no?

So is the person who removes a piece of- or reshapes their nose through cosmetic surgery so that they can be happier when they look in the mirror or be seen by others as the person they want to be- is that insane? Answers vary. They obviously aren’t happy with the body they were born with or they wouldn’t need to put plastic in it, ink it, poke holes and hang things from it and so on no? But is that insanity- if it is, most people are insane at some point aren’t they- how many people are never unhappy with their bodies? How many people have piercings or tattoos or “body art” or cosmetic surgery? How many use chemicals to paint themselves or to firm their skin or “restore wrinkles” or dye their hair?
