This reminds me of a line in the movie Leap Year that I think is really funny. The guy breaks a chickens neck so he can cook it for dinner, and when the girl (Amy Adams) gets upset, he asks "Where did you think chicken came from?" and she replies "The freezer section."

The band quit five years ago, sadly. They left us many excellent, contagious, no-nonsense rock songs.

When food is ready to be harvested, it's ready. You can't just make it wait. If those farmers don't harvest, they have nothing to sell, and then what is going to happen to them with an income? Plus, like Sophia yes, we need farms so we have food to eat.

The comment is about farm workers though, not farmers... I don't know how this works in Oregon, but mostly, farm workers are lousy paid immigrants, and if they don't go to work, under whatever shitty circumstances, they have no food on their tables, for sure.
