That would be funny, had a teacher not been decapitated this month because of the caricatures. I mean the rage comic in itself is not great and the problem is "they" did not just whine about it.
In 2015, Charlie Hebdo (the magazine shown here) published disrespectful caricatures showing Mahomet naked (amongst others).
Radical islamists attacked the redaction's building. 12 people died.
.
This month, the trial for the terrorists started. As it was mentioned a lot on the media, a history teacher, Samuel Paty, wanted to explain his student what had happened. He warned the children they might be uncomfortable so anyone not willing to see the caricatures made by Charlie Hebdo could leave the room, then he showed them.
.
This caused a backlash against him on social media from a group of parents, it was relayed by some mosques on their Fb page, and there are still some shadows but next thing we know, the dad of a student "contacted" a guy who went to the school, paid children to show him the teacher, then killed and beheaded him.
.
And since then, some have awakened and decided that was a great thing to do so 3 random people were killed and one beheaded yesterday in another town.
The problem is that the government has been pretending not to know about some extremist groups and "zones de non droit" (aka places the police is afraid to go) for ages and now they feel strong enough to attack.
They didn't even take the first step which is... controlling that someone who has been found guilty of planning a terrorist attack 1. stops recieving financial aids from the government and 2. doesn't fucking come back like nothing happened.
The last presidents have been really permissive and/or blind.
I won't pretend to know enough to comment on what the French government is doing. I just wish that y'all could fight back or even prepare yourselves without being made out as the bad guy.
That's sick. I understand that some things are off limits to comedy but that is inhuman.
I agree with Famousone. You guys should be able to defend yourselves better. Things like that should not be happening.
