Oh yeah, there was a writing reform or something some years back where most of the 'ss' in words were replaced with 'ß.' Is that also when they decided 'Fräulein' was no longer acceptable?
I think the Fräulein was a different story as it had more to do with social structures, sexism and euqalism. It slowly became no longer acceptable between the 60s and 80s. It used to be a word for unmarried women. And the replacement of ß by ss was in 1996 I think? Idk, I'm glad I already learned the new rules haha.
