Isn't that kinda why they named it Greenland. Iceland didn't get many people moving to it or even traveling to it so they wanted to name it something people would be less concerned about.

Yeah. In fact, a lot of people were actually moving to Iceland. The dude who discovered Greenland wanted people to go there too, but of course it’s too cold
