Genuine question here: Are there still people in the world who do marble carving? Could we potentially take inspiration from a statue from like ancient greek times like the broken Nike statue and recreate it to see how it could've potentially looked back in the day? I mean, I know we'll never be as good as they were back then in terms of stonecarving, but maybe we could do some interesting things

I know a guy who's a specialist in carving gothic ornaments in granite, and there are a lot of other people like him :) (just not enough)

I don't know for the statue, but in the case of the painting it wouldn't have done any change, since the elderly woman who did the bad paint job wanted to do something nice for her community by touching it up in secret (and got super ashamed when it got way out of hand), so a professional was never sought out in the first place.
