Yah, but we have so much more access to information today. It makes perfect sense that the level of achievement should be higher.

The problem isn't information and achievement, the problem is that the prices of just about everything have been rising much faster than wages have and there is a growing wealth disparity both between countries as well as between individuals within countries.
