He's not giving any bad advice. Obesity is not healthy.
For eg: Body positivity should be a person not hating their body because a medical condition is stopping them to work out or stay healthy. Not people being overweight. And no one is asking people to be bodybuilders. Even if you are below overweight, that's fine.
Also, what does this has to do with this person's race? He just shared his journey. Had you supported him even if he were obese?
Obesity isn’t healthy and reduces your lifespan and quality of life.
I really hate that there are people out there actively encouraging others to become obese because it’s apparently the “hottest” thing right now. It’s not.
Obesity was hot when people were starving in the streets, and they were probably only 200 lbs
I don't think body positivity people are going around saying you should become obese. They're just trying to say that even if you are overweight/obese you can still love yourself and your body. Lots of overweight body positivity are still trying to become healthier. They're just still loving themselves along the way.
I was careful not to say a majority. There are a select few that exist, that actively hate against healthy body types, and will attack anyone who says otherwise
That's true. There are some people that go to a bad extreme in trying to accept overweight/obese bodies that they end up hating on thinner bodies.
It's just that there is still a lot of hate for true body positivity because people think loving your body is the same as encouraging unhealthy behavior (when in fact, it's the opposite), so I felt the need to chime in.
Also, I disagree with what the guy in the post is saying. Body positivity is for all, even if you are unhealthy. You are still allowed to love yourself/your body.
