I watched it religiously. Hell, when I get bored,, i binge watch it over and over. Andre and Hewlett were actually two of my favorite characters.
Brewster was my favorite. Simcoe.... I hated him. However, most of the people of Canada have Simcoe to thank for the foundations he created by him after The Revolutionary War.
It's impossible not to like Caleb haha.
.
Andre and Hewlett were surprisingly compelling, and helped provide perspective and sympathy for the British side I think. I liked Townsend too, actually.
.
Simcoe's actor did a truly great job haha. Tbh I think a lot of his character (and many of the others) was changed to make a more "entertaining" tale (Agent 355 for example I don't think they ever confirmed the identity of). But yes, I had heard that the real Simcoe started doing something in relation to freeing slaves up in Vancouver.
.
Ahh you're making me want to rewatch it now :P
It's obviously not 100% historically accurate -but if you like historical dramas and the American Revolution it's definitely worth a look :) you'll have to let us know what you think @paper_cartoons ! :)
In that case idk if either of you would be interested, but I stumbled across these the other day:

They're letters from the real Caleb Brewster (character in the picture). I've only skimmed them myself, but if you guys are American Revolution buffs thought they might be appealing

Also, Adam - Caleb is another good character similar to Finan

It's based on the Culper Spy Ring, which played a huge part in the American Revolutionary War
