My daughter started showing signs of Tourettes around last September and is now in full blown Tourettes with uncontrolling movements from twitching to flipping the bird as well as saying random things and mimicking.
One thing that is her major tic is spitting lol I call her my pet llama lol
If she is upset with you or just don’t like you she spits lol
One day during her online class her teacher said she needed to retake a test and it sent into a full on spit mode lol her whole screen was covered in spit lol
I think the one thing that good about her tics is they are her Since of humor it is exactly how she react if she was trying to make people laugh. Lol
You're putting a positive spin on a tough situation. I hope your daughter stabilizes so she can get control of it. Your attitude is great and I'm sure helps your daughter to keep focus on what's important. Keep your chin up!
We tell her to laugh at it and remember it isn’t to be embarrassed or scared of it makes you different. Lol she actually admitted she likes to hear the weird stuff she says.
One thing we are stricken on her about it is when she hits from it. Either herself or others. We are trying our best to make sure that doesn’t become a permanent tic. People with Tourette’s that hit do serious harm to them selfs and/or others. We don’t want that for her. We told her if she slips a bad word that is fine we do ask she try’s to to stop it from coming out we been teaching her how to substitute the words. But the hitting we tell her to fight it with all her might. Which forces her to spit more lol. We wipe our face and say I rather be spit on than you hurt your self. Lol
We actually had no clue where she got it from at first. Because me and hubby know no one in our family’s to have it. I even called my aunts and they said no one had it in my side.
But as we learned a lot more about it we realized my husband has a mild case of it.
He always would out of no where jerk his head back and forth and if you make the same head movement to joke about what he did it force him to feel the need to do it more.
He always just assumed it was a sore neck because he get this like static jolt in his neck before he do it.
Turns out that was exactly what our kid feels right before she gestures or says something.
What’s funny is now that we know do to my husbands anxiety if he is around her for to long when she has non stop tics he almost starts saying stuff as well.
It’s like when you see someone yawn so you feel the need to yawn even though your not tired.
My friend/wingman: Says the above stuff to girl I want to impress
Girl: I am sooo into llamas. Do you know any interesting things about them?
Me: Their....meat....is...delicious.
