I understand that's a fundamental problem for China. Original thought had been stifled for so long that, in this age of innovation, they're having trouble innovating. Apparently the government is trying to order people to think for themselves without thinking the wrong thing.

I hope I'm not misunderstanding, the Chinese gov. wants their citizens to think critically, without committing wrong think. I think they might have their work cut out for them.

That's my impression at least. It's the same problem in any dictatorship. You have to force people to think inside a very narrow box. But that stumps creativity because people are preoccupied with trying to fit their thoughts within the narrative of those in power, basically practicing making plausible excuses rather than free thought.
