Well it was either that or invade Japan and multiply that deathtoll by 25 to 50, not counting the 1.5 million purple hearts that were minted in preparation for Operation Downfall, as it was going to be called. Purple Hearts that we're still giving out 76 years later.
Like I said, I know that. Still yeesh. But even without that, I understand Truman wasn't especially great.
