to be fair, stalin was at the height of his power, the russians has the nuke and were not afraid to brandish their new weapon, the korean war just ended in a tenuous ceasefire, china was newly communist, we just lost cuba to castro, AND eisenhower was a general that served in world war two, which was the most bloody and violent time in human history. guy had his work cut out for him.

You have me looking up Eisenhower quotes now and damn this guy is good with words. "If you want total security, go to prison. There you will be fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking is freedom" as a guy who likes dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery, this guy is now my spirit animal.

Honestly Eisenhower, as far as modern presidents go, was a decent one. I always look back to his final speech as president where he talks about the military-industrial complex and the direction he saw the country going in.
