Not entirely true. The lost coast is my dream spot to live in... just farming/raising animals in the mountains next to the pacific, surrounded by redwoods? Sign me up. Expensive AF for the land plus the towns are full of idiotic methheads, but prime delivers and with everything on a cycle i'd toggle with as to just build a slight surplus in case, wouldn't be much of an issue and I could avoid driving to town. It's a great place to just sorta... fall off the map; but that's why it has the nickname the lost coast; so many people go there and just vanish.
It can get rainy sometimes, but I love the rain; and very rarely does it get super hot directly on the coast. Also, with quite a few college campuses most music artists love to visit cuz the weed, not much of a lack of live entertainment.
When I lived there, I was, by far, the happiest I've ever been. It felt like I could do anything I wanted and time, but not me, was at a standstill.
Most of the people are evil fuckers, but not all, so if you can avoid the evil fuckers, it's possible to not be what this post is. In fact, the coolest people I met were homeless and just kinda explored all the time and would sleep on the beach or a makeshift tent; they basically chilled out and lived there for free, happy as a clam.
